A Smooth Transition for Workforce Board Newsletter

Marina Parr will take over from Tim Sweeney the sending of the agency's "almost" weekly Washington Workforce Development News, along with a great many other agency communications tasks. Marina has been with the agency for over five years working closely with Tim who is retiring after six years with the Workforce Board. See job opening in communications office


Marina Parr has worked as a communications consultant for the Workforce Board since 2008, helping write and edit reports and publications, and presenting on workforce issues and initiatitves at statewide conferences. A former journalist who worked for several Northwest daily newspapers, she also has experience as a copywriter for a Seattle area marketing firm. She also helped write and launch the successful CareerBridge.wa.gov website, which has won national recognition and media attention.

Tim Sweeney started with the State of Washington in 1983 as a legislative aide, later becoming a policy analyst in environmental and agricultural issues. He worked 15 years at the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission in variety of policy and outreach positions. He's currently the chair of the Citizen's Committee for Pipeline Safety and a senior mediator at the Dispute Recolution Center of Thurston County.
